Enhance your food presentation at the restaurant or enjoy some light grilling at home with this tabletop grill (or mizu konro). This konro grill is "Banko-yaki" or "Banko ware". It refers to a type of Japanese pottery that is known for its heat-resistant properties, making it suitable for use in high-temperature cooking and serving. Banko-yaki is primarily produced in the Mie prefecture of Japan.
Small portions of meat, fish and/or vegetables can be cooked with small pieces of binchotan placed underneath. This "mizu konro" comes with a grill but you can remove it to cook yakitori by resting the skewers over the main ceramic body (black).

Specifications
  • Material: Stainless steel, ceramic, wood and diatomaceous earth
  • Dimensions: 12.6" x 5.5" x 4.5" ht (32cm x 14cm x 11.5cm)
  • Product of Japan
  • Comes with the grill, wooden mat and diatomaceous earth insert
How to use

Please pour water into the main ceramic body (less than 1/2" high so the water does not reach the charcoal) before use. This will contain the heat.

If using charcoal, place them into the diatomaceous earth insert (white) and heat over a gas stove (or other fire source).
Once the charcoal is lit, place the insert into the main ceramic body.
You can either use the net to grill single items or grill skewers without the net.

If using for a long time, please make sure that you always have some water remaining at the bottom. Without the water, too much heat will transfer to the surface, even with the wooden mat underneath.
Do not place this grill on a surface without the wooden mat.
Please be careful when transferring the insert (with charcoal) into the main body. Use protective gloves or tongs, and be cautious of falling ashes.
Charcoal should only be used in well ventilated areas.
