Shu Matsubara

Founded in 1933 in Matsubara, Nagasaki, Tanaka Kama Kogyo carries on the 500-year tradition of Matsubara blades. Every step, from forging steel-clad blades to sharpening and handle fitting, is completed in-house by skilled craftsmen.
Known for their excellent edge retention, toughness, and cutting performance, Matsubara knives are highly regarded both in Japan and overseas.
The SHU brand takes its name from "Matsubara Shusaku," a mark honoring founder Shuichi Tanaka and the long tradition of blade making in Matsubara. Today, Tanaka Kama Kogyo continues this heritage, creating knives that reflect generations of craftsmanship and passion.
