Mr. Satoshi Nakagawa is widely regarded as one of the foremost bladesmiths of the modern era. Based in Sakai, Japan’s historic center of fine cutlery production, he has earned international recognition for the exceptional quality, performance, and craftsmanship of his forged blades.

Nakagawa began his career under the guidance of the legendary Kenichi Shiraki, one of Sakai’s most respected traditional bladesmiths. As Shiraki’s sole apprentice, he inherited a lineage of craftsmanship that has shaped generations of Japanese knife making. At the age of 30, Nakagawa was awarded the prestigious title of Traditional Craftsman, a distinction that reflected both his technical mastery and dedication to the craft.

Known for his expertise with both traditional carbon steels and modern high-performance alloys, Nakagawa combines time-honored forging methods with a relentless pursuit of excellence. His meticulous approach to forging and heat treatment produces blades prized for their cutting performance, durability, and refined character. Through his work, Nakagawa continues to uphold and advance Sakai’s enduring legacy as one of the world’s most respected centers of Japanese knife-making.
