Yamaga Cast Iron Pot 8.4" dia / 60 fl oz
Yamaga pots conjure up a feeling of nostalgia for Japanese people, as these pots were traditionally hung an over open fire in an irori (hearth), and cooking was done in a central location of each home. These are best used for tabletop cooking, but can also be used as a regular cooking pot.

Seasoning and Care
- Before first using our iron pots, clean the pot using a sponge with dish detergent and rinse with water. Boil the water with a small amount of vegetables to remove the smell. If you are disturbed by the wooden lid smell, boil the rice water or vinegar water with the lid.
- To prevent the tannins in the ingredients from combining with the iron and forming black iron tannate, do not cool the ingredients while leaving them in the pot—transfer them to another container instead.
- Do not overheat or rapidly cool the pot, as this may cause cracking or the enamel to peel.
- For cleaning, aim to use as little detergent as possible. A properly seasoned pot should become clean with warm water and mild scrubbing. Mild dish soap is helpful to clean more stubborn spots. When putting the pot away, coat it in a very light film of oil to prevent oxidation and when storing long term, wrap the pot in a hygroscopic paper (such as newspaper).
- The product is made of iron with a coating. To maintain its quality, please avoid using steel wool or abrasive materials, as they may damage the coating. While worn coating is harmless, exposed iron can rust easily.
