Sabi Kairagi Ivory Crackle Textured Kobachi 18 fl oz / 5.4" dia
The term Kairagi originally referred to shark skin once used on sword handles and scabbards. The distinctive glaze takes its name from this resemblance of the textured surface mimicking the look of shark skin. The fine crackle pattern is achieved by utilizing the different shrinkage rates of the three materials: the clay, the clay applied to the surface, and the glaze used. The process involves applying the glaze and letting it absorb. As they dry, the glaze and clay shrink, creating a beautifully organic, cracked finish. Every piece showcases the refined artistry and natural beauty of traditional Japanese ceramics.
The size of this bowl is a little larger than a Kobachi bowl, and is perfect for serving appetizers and good to be used as a Matcha bowl as well.
