Magic Hammer Red Lacquered Uchiwa Fan
This fan is a folk art from the Hida region in Japan. In the Hida region, a vermilion-lacquered fan has been considered for praying for Repellent, talisman, road safety, and peaceful family. The illustration on the front side is Uchide no Kozuchi, a legendary Japanese "magic hammer" that can "tap out" anything wished for. It is considered a symbol of the iconic deity Daikokuten and is said to bring good fortune in terms of happiness, and bountiful harvests.
The fan can also be used as a fan when grilling yakitori on charcoal grills. This design is very authentic in Japanese Yakitori Izakaya.
