Shichita Someneko Tokusa Blue Cat Plate Kozara 5.1" dia
A charming small plate featuring the delightful contrast between a playfully endearing cat and traditional patterns such as waves and lattices rendered in rich indigo blue (gosu).
On July 7th, a cat wandered into a Mino-yaki pottery workshop. Named SHICHITA after the Tanabata (Star Festival) celebrated on that day, this adorable cat became the inspiration for the SHICHITA Series of tableware.
The tokusa pattern represents the upright horsetail plant. This design features vertical stripes inspired by the plant's straight, upward growth. Beyond creating a clean, visually pleasing impression, the tokusa pattern is considered a symbol of growth and prosperity in Japanese culture. Here, the stripes cleverly transform into falling rain as a charming cat strolls with an umbrella.
